I've been wanting to type up a sort of news entry for a while now... but never got around to it for some reason. But at any rate...here I am.
As some of you know, back at Christmas, my step-mother got me a gift certificate for a make-up consultation. It was at the same place where her and I get our hair done. So, I did that back in May I believe. It was....interesting. It did look really nice, I'm not even going to try to lie about that. I'm beginning to KIND OF understand why girls wear it. Maybe I'm just weird, but I know that my eyes don't stand out unless you really look at them, or if I'm wearing light blue. They're kind small and squinty. Everyone has always said to me "You have such pretty eyes!, you should make them stand out more!" I've always been one to believe that if my eyes don't stand out, they were meant to be found, and not accented by me. It was an interesting experience, and I have worn make-up a few times since then. I'm still constantly stabbing myself in the eye with various things, but I suppose I'll get used to it someday. It does look nice.
In other news, we got a doozy of a storm last Friday. It was soooo scary. I was taking a nap and all of a sudden I hear a really loud crack. There was only a small thunderstorm happening at that point. Then literally like 5 minutes later it was raining like I have never seen rain before (except maybe for that time when I was in Wisconsin.) I sprung up and closed all the windows. Lol. It was also hailing left and right. I guess my neighbor was out side trying to bring something in from his deck and he kept yelling "OUCH! OUCH!!". I guess he was getting pelted with hail. I had to kind of laugh at that (I know, I'm mean) Shortly after the storm started, my power went off. I was trying to keep track of what was going on from my weather channel mobile thing on my cell phone and I check it and it said "Tornado Warning". All you have to do is say the word "Tornado" and I'm freaking out. Although, I really wasn't surprised that there was one considering what was going on outside. It was just a mess of wind, rain, and hail like I've never seen. FINALLY, the storm was over and my power was still out. I figured I'd better not open my fridge so I thought, Oh, I'll just go down the street to Subway and pick something up for dinner. Nope. Not so much. ALL of New Britain Ave was totally shut down. Including the mall and everything. I had no idea how bad it was. Trees were down EVERYWHERE. Finally, around midnight, my power came back on but I don't think anything else was on until the following day. They're still cleaning up from it. It was just plain nuts.
Seen a couple good movies lately. "UP" was amazing. "Proposal" was good too. Even though I normally can't stand Sandra Bullock. And Kristin and I went for ice cream last week which is always fantastic :-P.
So, this week I'm on vacation from work. I totally needed some time off. I've been wiggin' out lately. Sunday Rae came over and we finally finished watching all the episodes that she hadn't seen of Gilmore Girls. Including the last two. :-D. Now we're going back and watching all the special features. Monday I spent the day at my Dad's. Did some Laundry, ran some errands. Then yesterday, My Dad and I decided to take a trip up to Bethel, NY to see the original site of Woodstock. He had already been there, but I was jealous after hearing a few weeks ago that he had gone so he decided to take me :). It was AMAZING. Absolutely Amazing. They have a really cool museum up there (that they unfortunately wouldn't let you take pictures in). Throughout the museum they had all these videos playing and stuff. There was also a booth there where people who had been to Woodstock could leave messages about their experiences and I was browsing through that. They had a new exhibit downstairs which was like a time line of John Lennon and Yoko's Bed-in. And also, the Peace tree. They had little slips of paper attached to yarn and you could write your own message of peace and tie it to the tree. Of course, I did just that. :) After a brief interruption by some bad Weather, We went outside to the field. It was absolutely amazing. We Drove down the to monument and looked up ad the field and everything. It was awesome. I definitely got a tear in my eye. If you have any sort of passion like I do about this type of music, you have to go up there. It seems like just a giant hill, but it really is so much more than that If you're me.
So that's been my life for the past little bit. interesting huh? :-P BTW- leave a message here if you want to see my pictures from Woodstock. I posted them on my facebook, but not everyone who reads this has facebook I imagine.
I read this article about Johnny Depp in Vanity Fair magazine the other day. Incredible article. If you are a Johnny Depp fan, definitely read it. I'm a huge Johnny Depp fan. But honestly, the fact that he's incredibly gorgeous is only about 20% of my fascination with him. He's a beyond amazing actor. I would just love to spend the day with him and hear him talk...About anything. Every time I see one of this movies I just think about how much I would love to be inside of his head while he's filming and see what is going through his mind. And While he's studying his character, or reading a script somebody sent him. I mean, how does he break it down and decide what roles to accept? What does he do to prepare for filming? All things I would love to someday know.
anywhoo. that's it. Ciao! Ciao!
